Rowan Armstrong

Foundation Trained End of Life Companion in Lancashire

I believe that everyone deserves compassion, dignity and the opportunity to feel heard, particularly when facing the uncertainties of death, dying and loss.

My interest in end-of-life care comes from a belief that these experiences are part of life, yet so often we struggle to talk openly about them. As an end-of-life doula and coach, I offer a gentle, non-judgemental presence, supporting people and their families in ways that respect their individual wishes, beliefs and choices.

Animals also hold a special place in my life. Through my work with dogs and volunteering with The Cinnamon Trust, I’ve seen how important the bond between people and their animal companions can be, particularly during illness, ageing and bereavement. I believe the grief we experience when losing an animal companion deserves the same compassion and understanding as any other significant loss.

My approach draws on mindfulness, yoga and compassionate listening. I don’t believe in telling people how they should feel or what their journey should look like.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing we can offer another person is simply to be present, listen and walk alongside them.
