End of Life Doula UK is the UK membership and standards organisation for end-of-life doulas, supporting doulas to provide safe, ethical and compassionate care to people approaching the end of life and those close to them. The organisation promotes a person-centred approach in which doulas offer emotional, practical and spiritual support alongside families, communities and healthcare professionals.
End of Life Doula UK provides a professional framework for practising doulas, including a Code of Practice designed to support high standards of conduct, clear professional boundaries and responsible practice. Members are also expected to meet relevant requirements around training, DBS or Disclosure checks and ongoing professional development.
A key part of EOLD UK’s work is the ongoing support it provides to practising doulas. This includes mentoring, peer support, regional networks and continuing professional development, helping doulas reflect on their work, maintain their own wellbeing and continue developing their practice over time.
EOLD UK also provides a referral service for people looking for end-of-life doula support. This allows individuals, families and organisations to approach EOLD UK directly when they would like help finding an appropriate doula, while also helping the organisation maintain oversight of referrals and support its members through the mentoring process.
For people considering working with an end-of-life doula, EOLD UK membership provides an additional level of reassurance that the doula is working within an established professional framework and has access to ongoing support, mentoring and professional development.
